A shortage of hard disks is expected over the next few months due to floods in Thailand.
ServerPoint.com’s hardware acquisitions department has been slowly encountering obstacles to acquiring brand new hard disks to build the servers used for our dedicated hosting service.
Typically, we order between 100 and 150 hard disks every month for usage in servers at our facility. Today, however, our major suppliers have started limiting the purchasing of hard disks.
Even direct to consumer suppliers, such as NewEgg, are now limiting all hard disk purchases to one disk per customer.
We are quickly working on securing a good supply of disks. However, this shortage is pushing prices up, which may cause pricing of dedicated servers to go up slightly until this supply problem is resolved.
Stay tuned.
