Intel’s record-breaking Xeon E5-2600 processors are built on 32nm technology and based on the Sandy Bridge microarchitecture. Xeon E5-2600 CPUs are the first to offer solutions ranging up to eight cores and 768 GB of system memory and delivering a performance improvement of 80 percent compared to the previous generation Intel Xeon 5600 chips. The E5-2600 series is also the first to integrate the PCI-Express 3.0 bus on the processor to transfer data at speeds of 8 gigatransfers per second. This feature allows to route I/O traffic directly to processor cache boosting performance, reducing latency and saving power.
Xeon E5-2600 CPUs support Intel Advanced Vector Extension and feature four DDR3 memory channels per processor, which increases the performance of high-bandwidth and compute-intensive applications. All the E5-2600 series chips also support AES-NI encryption/decryption on the chip itself, Virtualization Technology (VT) and Trusted Execution Technology (TXT). Additional built-in features and technologies such as Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, Intel Hyper-Threading Technology as well as faster QuickPath Interconnects (QPI) between CPUs and increased memory capacity provide IT with the best combination of flexible capabilities, performance, energy efficiency and cost effectiveness.
