Minecraft Server Hosting FAQ
For a few very simple reasons. We own our network, data center and servers. Because we don't have to lease servers from anyone or pay colocation fees, we can afford to buy the most powerful servers available, no matter what their cost. We also host some of the largest Minecraft servers in the Internet, providing us with plenty of experience in managing an efficient infrastructure for Minecraft. We've been doing this for a long time!Do you offer a money back guarantee?
Yes. If within seven days you aren't satisfied, we'll refund your money. No questions asked. Why only seven days? Before, it used to be thirty days, however, that quickly got abused by people that would sign up, play for a month, get a refund, then sign up again, and so on.There are other hosts cheaper than you!
You get what you pay for :)Does McMyAdmin 2 take away from my game server's RAM?
No. Your Minecraft's Java server will be assigned the full RAM of your subscribed plan. Additional RAM is added to the server, at no cost to you, to handle the needs of McMyAdmin and the operating system. What is the most RAM I can have?
The standard maximum amount of RAM we can allocate to your Minecraft virtual machine is 16GBs. However, if more is needed, we can accomodate your needs. How much is extra RAM?
To get more RAM, just upgrade to a higher plan. Once you are at the highest plan, you can add more RAM for $5/mo for each 512MBs of RAM.Do I get my own dedicated IP number?
Yes, we do not share IP numbers. Are you related to LegendaryServers.com?
In a way. For a long time, we were the host providing servers and network to their customers. Then on December of 2011, we acquired LegendaryServers.com's customers, fixed up a lot of issues and integrated their clients over to our virtualization platform, where they've been running problem free ever since.Do I get access to MySQL with my server?
By request, we can set up a MySQL database in your Minecraft server.Do you oversell your servers?
Certainly not! We build servers with far more power than what is actually needed. All RAM is dedicated and we stop putting clients in a server once it reaches a 30% CPU usage average.Do you provide a free sub-domain for my server? How about a full domain?
We do. Just request our team to set it up for you. A full .com/.net/.org domain is $14.95 per year, or, you can get a subdomain.mineyourway.com type hostname for your server. MineYourWay.com is a domain we created to use as hostname for Minecraft servers.Do you use RAM disks?
Absolutely not! RAM disks are volatile. If the server were to crash, you would lose your most recent data! We use hardware based PCI-Express caching to accelerate writing and reading your game's world maps. This hardware cache has a built-in battery that protects the data even if the server crashes or is turned off. It is superior to any host that claims to use RAM disks! Why does Minecraft need so much CPU and what can I do to improve it?
Minecraft is written in Java and is unfortunately not very efficient. On top of that, adding poorly coded plug-ins increase CPU usage, and allowing all of your users to "fly" in Minecraft increases CPU usage quite a lot! Users flying forces Minecraft to process more of your world's map at a faster rate. What is McMyAdmin 2?
It is the latest release of McMyAdmin, an easy to use web based panel used to manage Minecraft. It allows you to manage Minecraft without having any knowledge of Linux! What is the one important thing I need to run a Minecraft server?
Patience!Where are the servers located?
In Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, in our own fully operated data center and network. Using multiple 10 gigabit uplinks to the Internet, our network is superior to any other Minecraft hosting company. Why? Because none of them actually own their network, or know much about networks. Connect to our demo server to try it!Does distance from the server affect my connection to Minecraft?
Yes. Due to limitations in the TCP protocol, the farther away you are from a server, the slightly slower it will "feel". Due to our extremely low latency network however, clients from all over the world use our Minecraft servers with no network issues whatsoever. Can I use CraftBukkit?
Yes. It can be automaticaly installed via McMyAdmin. Be aware though that using plug-ins will increase CPU usage, increase RAM usage, and also decrease stability!Do you provide support for third party plug-ins?
No. There are hundreds of plug-ins for Minecraft, most of them poorly coded. It is impossible for us to support them all. If your Minecraft server is crashing after you add a plug-in, remove it. There is nothing we can do about it since we did not code the plug-in.Once I sign up, what steps do I take to begin?
