Windows Server 2019 VPS hosting: what's new and how to deploy

By ServerPoint's Team ·

Windows Server 2019 VPS hosting

Windows Server 2019 is available on our VPS hosting platform and on dedicated servers. Microsoft put significant work into this release, and it has several features that matter for server workloads.

What’s new in Windows Server 2019

Project Honolulu (Windows Admin Center): A browser-based management tool that lets you manage multiple Windows servers (2012, 2016, 2019) from one interface. If you run several Windows VPS instances or dedicated servers, this simplifies administration.

Smaller Server Core: The headless Server Core installation is more compact, which is useful for dedicated servers where you want minimal overhead and maximum resources for your application.

Better container and Kubernetes support: If you’re running Docker or Kubernetes on Windows, 2019 has improved container isolation and native Kubernetes support. Container images are smaller and start faster.

Windows Defender ATP: Built-in advanced threat protection that can detect and respond to security threats without installing third-party antivirus.

Storage Spaces Direct: Scales to 4 PB for clustered storage scenarios on dedicated servers.

Which Windows Server version to choose

We also offer Windows Server 2022 and 2025, which include additional improvements. For most new deployments, we recommend the latest version. Windows Server 2019 remains available if your application stack requires it or if you’ve tested on it and want to stay consistent.

For desktop use cases (RDP, trading, remote work), Windows 10 is usually the better choice. For server workloads (IIS, SQL Server, Active Directory, containers), Windows Server is the right pick.
