Does ServerPoint use cPanel or Plesk?
Absolutely not!
We created our own platform that integrates with our distributed server environment. Neither cPanel nor Plesk were able to fit into our more advanced infrastructure.
Why not cPanel or Plesk?
Single-server limitations
Both cPanel and Plesk are single-server solutions. When you create multiple web hosting containers with either platform, they all get created on the same physical server. If that server goes offline, all your clients go offline.
Our distributed approach
ServerPoint’s Client Portal spreads all of your containers across multiple physical machines. If something happens to a single physical server, not all of your containers will go offline.
You can also deploy containers across multiple data centers, not just one. Currently available locations:
- Las Vegas
- Dallas
- Amsterdam
More locations are coming soon.
Private equity ownership concerns
Both cPanel and Plesk are now owned by the same private equity company. Since the acquisition, the industry has seen forced price increases and concerns about quality degradation of both products.
We do not like being at the mercy of a company like this. When a private equity firm controls the tools your business depends on, you have no control over pricing or product direction.
We control our own code
By building our own platform, we control the code and can add features and integrations faster than waiting for cPanel or Plesk to implement them. When our customers need something, we can build it.
What we offer
Our web hosting platform includes everything you need:
- App installer - One-click installation for popular applications
- Email - Powered by SmarterMail
- Our own infrastructure - Owned and operated by us, not outsourced to someone else like most web hosting providers or cPanel resellers
- Advanced PHP - Latest PHP versions with FFmpeg and ImageMagick support
- Caching and acceleration - Built-in performance optimization
- LiteSpeed Web Server - High-performance web server
- CloudLinux operating system - Isolation and resource management for shared hosting
However, do you want cPanel or Plesk?
While we don’t use cPanel or Plesk for our shared web hosting, we do offer both with our VPS hosting and dedicated servers.
With a VPS or dedicated server, you have full control over your environment. If you prefer managing your server through cPanel or Plesk, you can install either one. We even offer one-click cPanel installation when deploying a new VPS through ServerPoint’s Client Portal.
The bottom line
Most web hosting providers and resellers use cPanel or Plesk because they’re easy to set up. We invested in building our own platform because their single-server architecture doesn’t match the reliability and flexibility our customers expect.
