If you’re running a VPS, a dedicated server, or a web hosting account with us, you already have free DNS hosting. It’s included with every plan, managed directly from ServerPoint’s Client Portal.
No separate DNS provider. No extra bill. No running your own nameservers.
Why this matters
DNS is the first thing that happens when someone visits your site, sends you email, or connects to your API. Your domain name gets translated into an IP address before anything else can happen. If DNS is slow, every connection starts with a delay. If DNS goes down, nothing works, even if your server is perfectly healthy.
A lot of people manage DNS separately from their hosting. Maybe you’re using your domain registrar’s basic DNS, or you signed up for a third-party DNS service. That works, but it means another account to manage, another dashboard to log into, and sometimes another monthly bill.
We’ve made this simpler by building DNS hosting into ServerPoint’s Client Portal alongside your servers and hosting accounts.
What’s included
DDoS-protected infrastructure. DNS amplification attacks are one of the most common DDoS vectors, and they target nameservers specifically. Our DNS infrastructure is built to absorb these attacks without affecting resolution for your domains.
Anycast routing. DNS queries get routed to the nearest nameserver automatically. A visitor in Singapore gets their answer from a nearby node, not from a server in Virginia. Faster DNS resolution means faster time-to-first-byte for your visitors.
DNSSEC support. You can enable DNS Security Extensions to cryptographically sign your DNS records. This prevents cache poisoning and DNS spoofing. When someone looks up your domain, they can verify the response hasn’t been tampered with.
Full record type support. Manage A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, SRV, and other record types. Point your domains at your VPS, dedicated server, WordPress site, or external services. Everything from one place.
How to set it up
- Log in to ServerPoint’s Client Portal
- Navigate to the DNS management section
- Add your domain
- Create your DNS records (A, AAAA, MX, CNAME, TXT, etc.)
- Update your domain registrar’s nameserver settings to point to ours
Once nameserver changes propagate (usually a few hours), your DNS is handled. You can manage all your records from the same portal where you manage your servers.
When it makes sense to switch
If you’re currently managing DNS through your domain registrar, you’re probably getting basic DNS without DDoS protection or anycast. Consolidating into ServerPoint’s Client Portal gives you better performance and security at no extra cost.
If you’re paying for a third-party DNS provider, switching saves you that monthly fee while keeping the features that matter: anycast, DNSSEC, and DDoS protection.
If you’re running BIND or another DNS server on your VPS, switching frees up resources on your server and removes one more thing you need to maintain and patch. If your VPS goes down for maintenance, your DNS stays up because it’s on separate infrastructure.
No extra cost
Free DNS hosting is included with any active VPS, dedicated server, or web hosting plan. There’s nothing extra to sign up for or enable.
