IPv6 Support with Dedicated /56 and /64 Routing Now Available on VPS Hosting

Jonathan - Engineering

We just rolled out IPv6 support with dedicated /56 or /64 routing to your virtual servers. This upgrade brings modern networking capabilities to our VPS hosting platform, and it's all fully automated.

What's New?

All virtual servers now include a single IPv6 IP address by default. On top of that, you can get a dedicated /56 or /64 IPv6 network routed to that IPv6 IP. This gives you plenty of IPv6 address space for your applications, containers, or any other networking needs.

The whole process is fully automated - no manual configuration needed on our end. Once you request a dedicated /56 or /64, it gets routed to your virtual server's IPv6 IP automatically.

What is a /56 and /64 Subnet?

IPv6 uses a different addressing scheme than IPv4. A /64 gives you a full subnet with 18 quintillion addresses - more than enough for most use cases. A /56 gives you 256 of those /64 subnets, which is perfect if you need to segment your network or allocate subnets to different applications or services.

Both options provide way more address space than you'll probably ever need, but having that flexibility is useful for complex deployments, containerized applications, or network segmentation.

Where Is It Available?

IPv6 support with dedicated routing is already available for virtual servers at our Santa Clara (Silicon Valley) and Singapore data centers. If you're deploying virtual servers at these locations, you can take advantage of IPv6 right away.

We're expanding IPv6 support to more locations for VPS hosting:

  • Las Vegas and Amsterdam - available by February 2026
  • Dallas and Ashburn - available before summer 2026

We're also bringing IPv6 support to dedicated servers:

  • Las Vegas - available by February 2026
  • Dallas - available before summer 2026

Why IPv6?

IPv6 is the future of the internet. While IPv4 still works great, IPv6 provides:

  • More address space - billions of available addresses
  • Better security - built-in IPsec support and improved security features
  • Improved performance - more efficient routing and packet processing
  • Future-proofing - preparing for the long-term transition to IPv6

We're rolling this out now to give our customers access to modern networking capabilities while still supporting IPv4.

What's Included?

Every virtual server includes a single IPv6 IP address by default - no extra cost, no extra configuration needed. If you need more IPv6 address space, you can activate a dedicated /56 or /64 routed to that IPv6 IP via our portal.

All the same features you're used to - fast storage, flexible configurations, reliable infrastructure - now with IPv6 support.

How Much Does It Cost?

Starting at $5/month, our VPS hosting plans include IPv6 support at no extra cost. The single IPv6 IP is included with every virtual server, and you can request a dedicated /56 or /64 if needed.
